The Peninsula SPCA Proudly Joins the “Pet for Patriots” Program

Statistics tell us that every day in the US, 18 veterans take their own lives. Pets for Patriots was founded as a charitable, non-profit organization that seeks to unite at-risk shelter animals with individuals from all branches of the armed forces at any stage of their careers, including retirement. They believe that “through the simple act of pet adoption, two lives can be saved and enriched. “

The Peninsula SPCA has become a partner shelter with the Pets for Patriots program. This means that military personnel and veterans who qualify for the program can adopt an at-risk dog or cat from our shelter for a special discounted adoption fee that includes the animal’s spay/neuter, initial vaccinations, micro-chipping, and more. The Pets for Patriots program will also provide adopters with discounted veterinary care for their adopted pet and other educational resources. They even provide access to their virtual “pet food bank” for those in need.

Military personnel interested in participating in the program can learn more by going to www.petsforpatriots.org or by visiting the Peninsula SPCA for more information. Look for the special “Adopt a Hero” tag on the kennels of Pets for Patriots eligible dogs and cats.
