new SPCA adoption guarantee logo

On January 5, 2015, the Peninsula SPCA officially became an Adoption Guarantee or “no kill” animal shelter, supported entirely through private donations from our community’s citizens and businesses.  The PSPCA no longer holds stray animals picked up by citizens or Animal Control officers. Stray animals are housed at the new Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter located at 5843 Jefferson Avenue in Newport News. The telephone number for the Regional Shelter is (757) 933-8900. Click here to read the PRAS transition notice.

The new Peninsula SPCA and Humane Education/Outreach Center continues to shelter and adopt out dogs, cats and small animals surrendered by owners who can no longer care for them. for shelter by appointment to ensure that every animal that comes to us has a safe and comfortable space ready and waiting for them in our shelter. Please call us and speak with an intake counselor if you need to surrender a pet, (757) 595-1399.

We know you may have many questions about what this change means. Questions like, “Is the Peninsula SPCA moving?”, “Is the ‘new’ shelter the Peninsula SPCA?”, “What do I do if I need to surrender my animal?”. These questions and more are answered HERE.

Show your support of the Peninsula SPCA and give a gift to the animals. You can have peace of mind knowing that your gift will go to save animals’ lives.
