Our mission is to save the most vulnerable animals and enrich the lives of pets and people. Thanks to the support of animal lovers like you\, we have become a safety net for the Peninsula’s most vulnerable pets\, saving 1\,885 pets whose owners could no longer care for them\, reduced euthanasia in other over-crowded shelters thus saving an additional 1\,851 lives through our transfer program over the past four years. That’s 3\,736 pets that got the second chance they deserved! \n\n\n \nWhen a pet comes to the Peninsula SPCA we are committed to their health and happiness. \n\n\n \nAfter a recent inspection of our facility\, we are in dire need of funds to replace a large portion of our roof\, spanning from our cat room\, over our pocket pet area\, and down to the lobby. This roof repair is very important to the health and safety of our animals\, as well as the overall operation of the shelter. The entire project will have an estimated cost of $75\,000 and Give Local is one of the many fundraisers helping to raise the capital for this project. \n\n\n \nIf we hit our goal of $10\,000\, we will have raised all the funds to cover our roof repair! \n\n\n \nLong-time patron and friend to the animals and PSPCA\, Cathy McQuade\, has pledged a donation match of $10\,000 for any donations received during Give Local 757. All donations raised on April 23rd will be matched dollar-for-dollar\, up to a total of $10\,000\, doubling all donations made by you! \n\n\n \n“Our aging facility requires many repairs throughout the year\, but this project is above and beyond what we anticipated\,” said Megan Steele\, Executive Director. “We are so grateful to Cathy McQuade for stepping up with her $10\,000 challenge to the community to help raise the ‘woof.'” \n\n\n \nYour donation will help to ensure that our kitties and pups literally have a roof over their heads! \n\n\n \nDid you know that the Peninsula SPCA Is a private\, non-profit that relies on community donations to operate? DESCRIPTION:You helped us make history raising over $370\,000 for the animals at Fur Ball 2024!\n               \nThe Peninsula SPCA’s 16th annual Fur Ball gala made history by raising over $370\,000 for the pets and programs of the Peninsula SPCA. Held on March 9th\, 2024 at the Hampton Roads Convention Center\, this year’s event\, A Walk in the Park\, had over 400 guests with nearly 50 pets joining the celebration. \nGuests enjoyed browsing silent auction items during cocktail hour and getting their portraits taken by Bob Harper Photography. Four-legged guests were treated to tasty treats at the Muttini Bar\, made possible by Carol & Frank\, Pearson Toyota Scion\, Colonial Webb\, Towne Bank\, Old Point\, and VCA Animal Hospital\, before strutting their stuff in the pet parade. The live auction was also a highlight of the night\, with co-spokespets Scooby Doo (and his sister\, Sophie) and Mr. Dupre battling it out yet again before a donation match offer resulted in another tie. The Peninsula SPCA is very grateful for the generosity of Cathy McQuade and Dr. Kian Kaz! This will be an event to remember\, and the local band\, Request Station\, had guests dancing the night away in celebration. \nThe 16th Annual Fur Ball was made possible by community partners who support the important work of the Peninsula SPCA.
