Volunteer

When you join our volunteer team, you can make a difference by helping with daily care of the animals, spending one-on-one time with them, taking them out to community events, and matching potential adopters with their pet companions.

Volunteer Opportunities Include:

  • Dog Squad: Provide care and love to our canines and help them get adopted! Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Purrr Pals: Provide care and love to our felines and help them get adopted!
  • Barnyard Buddies: Spend time with our barnyard animals, assist with petting zoo activities, and help educate our guests about our barnyard friends.
  • Humane Education: Provide care and love to the Humane Ed pets. Assist with offsite outreach programs and events. Assist with camps if interested.
  • Outreach Events: Assist with the shelter’s events and offsite outreach programs.
  • Yardwork: Mowing, weeding, pruning, etc.
  • Foster Care Providers: Help give our special pets (pets that may be too small, have special needs, or just don’t handle the shelter environment well) a second chance. Fostering saves lives! Click here for more information on signing up to foster.

Volunteer Requirements

  • Volunteers must be able to commit to a minimum of 4 hours every month.
  • You must be at least 16 years of age.
    • Our dog squad and web photographer volunteers must be at least 18 years old
  • Opportunities are available for parent and child volunteer teams; the child must be a minimum of 13 years of age and accompanied by a legal guardian at all times during volunteering.

We recommend that volunteers have an up-to-date tetanus vaccination, although it is not required.

Unfortunately we are unable to accept court ordered community service requests at this time.

Volunteer Program Fee:

$20 fee for individuals
$15 fee for minors (13-17)
This fee is non-refundable and helps us offset the cost of the volunteer program.

Orientation: You will be assigned an orientation date.

Volunteer candidates are asked to complete an application so we can learn more about you, your skills and specific interests you may have.  Once received, we will review your application and a staff member will email you with information on an orientation.
