Peninsula SPCA’s 85th Anniversary

Celebrating 85 years of helping pets and people in Hampton Roads.

“We couldn’t be more excited to celebrate 85 years of helping the Peninsula’s pets and people. It is amazing to see how the organization has evolved over the years, from its humble beginnings in 1938, when a small group of animal lovers created the Peninsula Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.  That one act of kindness has grown into the organization we are today, with the help of many board members, executive directors, staff, volunteers, and community support along the way.  We are celebrating this milestone with, and for, all of them and the many pets and community members we helped over the last eight-and-a-half decades.”

Acts of Kindness

The Peninsula SPCA started from kindness. Community members joined together to help animals in need, and that spirit lives on today. To honor this, the Peninsula SPCA is celebrating Acts of Kindness. From holding the door for someone to hosting your own lemonade stand for the animals, you can make a difference in your community too! Download the list below and share on social media with #PSPCAKindness to spread the love.

$2 Tuesdays

Did you know that the first adoption fee at the Peninsula SPCA was $2.00? Help celebrate 85 years of helping animals and donate $2 this Tuesday – or every Tuesday – if you’re able. As a private, nonprofit animal shelter, the Peninsula SPCA fully relies on community support to achieve its mission, and you can make a difference!
