My name is Hutch and my brother is Starsky! We were both born in October, 2013 in Natural Bridge, Virginia at the Natural Bridge Zoo. We stayed there in the pasture with our mom. On April 27, 2014, we made our journey to our new home.
After a few hours on the road, we stopped at the Peninsula SPCA. This is where we were unloaded and found out that this was our new home. I was so happy to know that my brother was coming with me! We were very scared because we had never been off on our own, but the caretakers at the SPCA have taken very good care of us.
We didn’t trust many people so our caretakers kept us separated from the public for a few weeks and worked very closely with us. We have learned how to walk on a lead. We have gotten to love people so when we see them, we will walk up to them and wait patiently to be petted.
My brother and I can eat about three bales of hay a month, so it can get expensive. We don’t require a lot, but there is some general care and maintenance we need, like neutering, vaccinations, and care for our hooves and teeth. Our home is very important to us, so we like to keep it fresh with clean shavings.
We got our vaccines on Oct. 2, 2014! My brother and I each weighed around 195 pounds.
